The Conference logo
Designed by Keanu Townsend, this logo is a representation of education outdoors in Aotearoa, from the mountain tops, through the rivers to the sea. The green manaia/guardian represents Aoraki/Mt Cook and the pounamu/greenstone that is produced and sourced in the South Island. The red manaia/guardian is Mt Ruapehu, the red depicts the active volcanic elements that builds and changes the landscape. The mountains are believed to be ancestors of the people, this is why the guardians are shown in the mountains. The river in-between the mountains represents the Waikato river that flows from the high elevations inland to the sea. The puhoro flow of the ocean is the currents and tides that surround our islands of Aotearoa. Inside the mountains we see the ara/pathways that people create and take to experience and adventure the landscapes of Aotearoa.
This conference was made possible by the Teacher Refresher Course Committee (TRCC).
Course Director: Sophie Watson
